I just loved meeting this family for their session and we were lucky enough to have the most gorgeous fall day! This family was as sweet as they are gorgeous. I have so many favorites from this gorgeous session, it was impossible to narrow down down any further.

We didn't have the nicest weather to work with during our session, but these images turned out gorgeous! This little girl's smile could light up the dreariest of days! She is so excited to have a baby brother coming soon and I know she will be amazing at her new role as big sister!  Here are some of my favorites from this family's session...

{Veal Family}

This family was as sweet as they are adorable! Don't even get me started on how cute their kids are (dog included)! They moved back to Atlanta several months ago after living in Chicago. I am pretty sure their winter is about to get a whole lot better now that they are back in the South! Welcome back to Atlanta, Veal family!

When you show up to your location and there is a 5k going on the same morning, you can only hope you get a family as sweet and laid back as this one! The fall colors and the first chilly {actually fall-like} weather of the season made it the perfect morning though! Here are some of my my favorites...

I love being able to joke and laugh through a session with my clients! These new parents kept me laughing throughout the whole thing-- and it was awesome! Baby Bennett was oh so precious and did such a great job at his first photo session! Oh, and his nursery was to die for! Here are some of my favorites from this session....

{Baby Mac}

I go to travel to one of my favorite places for this sweet newborn session! This baby boy decided to come a few weeks early, but our timing for his session worked out perfectly. I absolutely loved meeting these sweet new parents and talking about how great {and tiring} that sweet newborn phase is. I can't wait to capture more memories for this family and get to watch as this sweet little guy grows!

{Tips to Prepare for Family Photos}

The most common question I hear when it comes to preparing for family photos is "What in the world do we wear?!". Have no fear! I have put together a handy list of easy tips on dressing for family photos.

  • Plan ahead - Don't wait until the last minute to throw outfits on yourself and the rest of the family. You won't feel good about it and will likely end up with wrinkled clothes that don't coordinate at all.
  • Coordinate - You don't want everyone matching. Nobody has their own unique look! You do want to coordinate. I suggest picking a few complimentary colors and sticking to that.
  • I always, always, always say that neutrals or muted colors look best in photos.Using these colors keep you as the focal point. They are the most pleasing to the eye and create a bright, airy looking image.
  • Don' t Wear Logos/Graphics/Bold patterns - This will make everything look way too busy and you will get lost in the background of your clothes. We want you to be the focus.
  • Don't Over Accessorize - It's totally fine to accessorize, but don't overdo it and put on every piece of jewelry and scarf you own. Again, this will take focus away from you and onto what you are wearing.
  • Timeless not Trendy- You want these pictures to have a classic feel you will look back on for years to come and still love. Try to avoid super trendy looks that will date your images {annyone remember
  • Be Comfortable!!! - These tips are my personal opinion based on my experience as a photographer. The most important thing is that you be comfortable in whatever it is you're wearing! If you aren't comfortable, it will show in your images. Wear whatever makes you feel your best!

The Second most commonly asked question is "How do I make sure my kids behave?".  Let's just all agree that kids are unpredictable {duh}. The best thing you can do as a parent is to make it fun and to try to stay as relaxed as possible yourself. Kids sense when you are tense or nervous and they feed off of it. Turn it into a game of some sort {peek a boo with the photographer, etc).  Having a surprise of some sort that they get at the end is always helpful, too if you are up for a little bribery {your call parents, but it works 99% of the time in my experience}. Have fun, be silly and most importantly, just be yourselves! That is what you want to remember when you look back at these photos in a few years!

{Baby Caroline}

One of the most incredible things in life is to watch your best friends as they become parents! It is even more incredible that I have had the honor to be able to capture some of the most precious moments of them in those early days as they transition into their roles as "Mom" and "Dad" to their sweet little ones. This session literally gave me ALL.THE.FEELS! Sweet Caroline is one loved little girl!  I could have gone on and on about it and posted for weeks on Instagram about this sweet session, but figured I would just post some of my favorites here for you!

{Dial Family}

One thing I love about being a photographer is that you get the opportunity to work with and reconnect with old friends. Katie was a sorority sister of mine and it was so good to see her and catch up after so many years! This picture perfect family of five was such a joy to capture! Here are some of my favorites....

{Baby Henry}

One of the many perks of this job is getting to snuggle sweet newborns! It's a hard days work, but somebody's got to do it! Baby Henry was justover two weeks old when I met him for his newborn session. He was as precious as they come and was a pro at his first photo session! His parents were just the sweetest and I loved that they wanted to incorporate some family heirlooms and things that were special to them into these images. I just love family heirlooms and the meaning behind carrying on traditions. Here are some of my favorites from this oh so sweet session...

Yall....this session was SO. MUCH.FUN! This family is seriously the best. Miranda is a real estate agent {and is AH-mazing at it} and Richard is a pilot {how cool is that}. Oh, and their son is the spunkiest, funniest, smartest little thing I've ever met {I mean....his favorite band is the Lumineers. He had me at "Ho Hey"}! I had an absolute blast with this family and loved capturing these memories for them! Here are some of my favorites.....

{Prinsell Family}

I just loved my session with this family! I have to give major props to this expectant mama and toddler-toting dad for hiking around in the heat in their fall attire for these photos {it is technically fall, but like seriously, where IS the fall weather!?}. It was worth it though! These images are gorgeous!

 Their son was absolutely adorable and as it turns out, our session was just a few days before he turned 2! I think he is going to make such a great big brother to his twin brother and sister in a few months!

I was so excited to meet this family! I donated a newborn session to a charity silent auction recently and they were the winners. It was so great to meet them and I can't wait to meet their two little ones at their newborn session in a few months!

{Williams Family}

Being a parent and having the opportunity to meet other parents through my job is such an incredible thing! It is an instant connection and common bond you have with people you have just met.  I am so grateful to be able to do what I love and share that with the amazing families I get the chance to work with!

I got to spend a gorgeous, sun-filled morning with the Williams family. They were the sweetest family of four and were so laid back and easy to work with. They were even up for exploring a new location with me, which is the jack pot for a photographer! I am so in love with these gorgeous images from their session, that I am having a hard time narrowing it down to just a few to post. I'll try my best!
